EDGE® Certification Services
The EDGE certification is a green building certification program focused on making buildings more resource-efficient. Developed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), it is designed to help developers and builders identify the most cost-effective strategies to reduce the use of energy, water and carbon embodied in materials.
EDGE Green Building Certification facilitates the creation of resource-efficient structures in a simple, smart and cost-effective way.
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has developed the Design Excellence for Efficiency (EDGE) program. It enables real estate developers to create resource-efficient buildings quickly, simply and economically. It is the latest generation of environmental building certification standards, combining a design tool to demonstrate the financial condition of green building construction.
EDGE allows developers, building owners, and investors to quickly examine the environmental and economic impacts of each design decision.
EDGE provides a simple and easy-to-use interface for data such as meteorological conditions, usage patterns, technology and practices common in more than 140 countries. EDGE can examine the economic and environmental impacts of building designs and determine energy and water efficiency in the baseline state (if built according to standard/model practices) through some inputs. EDGE can then be used to determine the additional and operational costs of any anticipated design improvements in terms of energy and water efficiency.
